More than 1.5 Lacs students appeari

SRM Entrance Examination (SRMEE 2013) for admission to Engineering & Technology and other streams will be held on 20th April – Paper pencil mode and Computer Based Test 20th and 21st April.

The admission notification was issued in November last for admission to multiple disciplines.  2.23 lakh candidates registered from across the country.  Among those applied, 1,52,518 candidates are to appear in the entrance exam conducted in five sessions in 203 centres in 102 cities across the country.  Majority take up the test for admission to B.Tech in 19 branches which include Mechanical, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Civil, IT, Electrical & Electronics, Biotechnology, Aerospace, Nanotechnology, Automobile, Electronics & Instrumentation, Biomedical, Chemical, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Software, Instrumentation & Control, Mechatronics, Information & Telecommunication.  In addition the aspirants also include those appearing for 33 specializations in M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and Health Science programs including BDS.

Interestingly this year only 18% of the candidates are girls.

Statewise – 36.5% from Andhra Pradesh, 14.8% from Tamilnadu, 9.4% from Uttar Pradesh, 5.2% each from New Delhi and Rajasthan, 4.1% from West Bengal and balance from about 35 States &UT.

The University also registered so far around 5200 candidates from 39 countries under Foreign nationals / NRI category.

Results of the entrance examination will be published on 30th April in the University’s website www.srmuniv.ac.in.

Counseling will be held for six days from 1st June in Chennai and New Delhi to fill about 7000 seats for the following campuses: Chennai (Ramapuram/Vadapalani), Chennai Kattankulathur, NCR Campus – New Delhi & Trichy.

The Chancellor is pleased to announce sanction of financial assistantship of categories of students such as: Full fee concession for all the four years to CBSE toppers from each State and Toppers in State Board exam.  Also free education to economically weaker section - 10 students having 95% marks in 12th Examination.  100% fee waiver on tuition fee and hostel fee to Sports persons having significant achievement is National level/State level – 10 in Engineering, 10 in MBA and 50 in Science & Humanities.  Merit Scholarship are also offered to NRI candidates and financial assistantship to those sponsored under Semester Abroad Program (SAP) to Universities abroad viz., MIT, Carnige Melon, University of California.
