International Conference on Media and Visual Literacy

SRM University will hold an international conference on media and visual literacy (exploring skills and development among youth) on April 1 and 2. The department of Visual Communication is conducting the conference on the theme, with sub-themes like interaction design and digital media, visual aesthetics, visual literacy and culture, new developments in parallel cinema, citizen journalism and social media with a perspective on public participation.

SRM Honours Woman Achiever

SRM University for Engineering and Techinology, Vadapalani, celebrates Women’s Day by honouring a woman achiever. This year, Kala master, a choreographer, was felicitated. On the occasion, the college band performed some of her famous numbers. Addressing the students, Kala master highlighted the importance of education for women. The programme also included a dance and mime show.

SRM’s Fest from March 29

SRM University, Kattankulathur, presents ‘Chemflux 2016,’ an initiative of Chemical Engineering Association of the chemical engineering department, from March 29 to 31. Milan ’16 comes to a Colourful Close

The four day annual cultural festival Milan ’16 culminated at SRM University with a colourful valedictory session on Sunday.

National award winning film producer-director Vetrimaran distributed prizes to winners at the end of the festival.

He was presented the Balu Mahendra Award instituted by the University for his latest hit ‘Visaranai.’

The award was given by Shanky Mahendra son of his mentor, cinematographer-director, Balu Mahendra.

He presented the Sivaji Ganesan Award to S. Bhargavi of IIT-Madras.

Serious debates and musical treat mark Day 3 at Milan’16

While a DJ Night, starring Ireland’s top female DJ Kaila Troy, made an impact on students on Friday night, it was Devi Sri Prasad, an Indian music composer, singer, and director, who took centre stage at a late-evening show on Saturday at SRM University, Kattankulathur.

While the first day was reserved for the grand inauguration of a mega annual event ‘Milan’16’ at SRM University, Kattankulathur, the second day's programmes kept students a little more busy. The campus was abuzz with activity on day 2 of ‘Milan’ with every inch and corner teeming with people. Students charged with competitive fervour tried to participate in as many events as possible.

National Talent Hunt Show off to Rocking Start

Milan ’16, the annual national-level cultural and sports fest, where talents from colleges across India converge and compete, got off to a bright start with a couple of events and a grand gala inauguration on Thursday.

The 9th edition of ‘Milan '16 - Live The Change’ was inaugurated by actor-producer and former model John Abraham, who inspired the students with his words of advice in an inimitable style.

SRM Milan 2016 from Today

The 9th edition of SRM University’s cultural festival, Milan 2016 will kick off on March 3, according to a press release.

At the inaugural function, actor John Abraham, who will be the chief guest, will deliver a special address. The press release said that the festival, which would take place on the campus of SRM University in Kattankalathur and conclude on March 6, would feature a variety of events, including 'International Air Show', 'Redbull bus tour', 'Standup Tamasha' and 'Choreonite Plus'.

Rama Rao lauds SRM varsity's Research Day

Padma Vibushan awardee Professor P Rama Rao has stated that the Manhattan Project launched by the United States was perhaps the quintessential example of grand synthesis of knowledge, investment manpower under a magnificent leader.

Rao, who is the chairman of the Governing Council of Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru was speaking on the occasion of SRM University's Research Day held in Chennai recently.
