Chennai lad cracks Rubik's cube in 5.72 secs

CHENNAI: An 18-year-old student of SRM University has set a new national record for solving the Rubik's cube. He cracked the code in 5.72 seconds.

In a competition held at Montfort School in Trichy on Saturday, Vijay Kishore went through in five rounds of speed solving with 98 other participants and achieved the national record. He overtook the earlier record of 6.56 seconds.

Foundation for SRM University in Amaravati on November 24

Vijaywada: Andhra Pradeshchief minister Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone to SRM University in Amaravati on November 24. Explaining the latest developments here on Tuesday, CRDA commissioner Cherukuri Sridhar said land to SRM will be given in two phases of 100 acres each. "SRM will setup university campus with 17,000 students by end of first phase in five years and 52,000 students by the end of second phase in 10 years. This campus would include a medical college and university," he said.

Mohit, Anirudh star in SRM’s triumph

Former National champion Mohit Mayur and Anirudh Chandrasekar powered SRM (Chennai) to a 3-0 victory over Madras University in the final of the all-India inter-university men’s tennis championship at the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology on Wednesday.

After Mohit and Anirudh won their singles, Elwin Antony and Mohammed Fahad completed the job in style.

SRM varsity finishes on top in Volleyball

Chennai: SRM University defeated Indian Bank in a hard-fought final to win the men's title in the Jones Foundations 23rd State-level volleyball tournament organised by Vollys Club here yesterday.

It was a close match in the first two sets before the SRM lads stepped up the pace to run out winners. The scoreline read: 25-20, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23

The winners took home the 'Vasanth Trophy' and cash prize of Rs 40,000.

R. Anirudh Seshadhri’s 126 helped City-I beat Districts-I by virtue of a 62-run first innings lead in the final and emerge champion of the TNCA u-14 round robin cricket tournament here.

Santhosh Kumar 59, Neyan Shyam Kangayan 54, Aditya Varadharajan 45, Arya Yohan Menon three for 26) drew with City-I 296 for five in 90 overs (R.
