SRM Supercomputer Center

Computational Science and Engineering

What we aspire to be

To establish world class supercomputing facility to promote the computational research in different scientific and technological area to solve the current and future challenges for betterment of humanity

Who are we what we do

  • Collaborative project and alliance with different world class research groups.
  • Training Program, creating e-learning database and series of hands-on session to develop computational skill among the students and faculties of the university.
  • Targeted research areas to strengthen the centre

What is Supercomputer Centre?

A super computer centre is a location with a super computer facility usually need for research work. Supercomputer is a computer with a high-level computational capacity compared to a general-purpose computer. Performance of a super computer is measured in floating-point operations per second (FLOPS) instead of million instructions per second (MIPS). In general thousands of dedicated processors are placed in proximity to each other (e.g. in a computer cluster); this saves considerable time moving data around and makes it possible for the processors to work together (rather than on separate tasks), for example in mesh and hypercube architectures. A super computer is typically used for scientific and engineering applications that must handle very large databases or do a great amount of computation (or both).
